2018年にQueen of Soulが天国に旅立った直後、
今和訳するならどの曲だろう、と色々聴き返し、
中でも私が好きなこの曲は、これまでちゃんと意味を考えて聞いたこともなかったのですが、
改めてじっくりと読んでみると、きっとこれこそ彼女の生き様だなぁと。
そんな風に感じてこの曲を選びました。
そして、歌詞の中で主語がweになっていたりLet’s〜になっていたりするので、そして聴く人にもアレサが「一緒に」、”それ”を掴みに行こうと味方になってくれていて、
このパワフルな歌声を聞いて心が強くなる度に、みんなの心の中で彼女が生き続けるんだなぁ と感じました。
さて、歌詞の中で沢山出てくるキーワードだけど、一体何なのかはどこにも明記されていない「it （それ）」。
“それ”は、
掴むもので、頂上にも連れていけるもので、永遠に続くと信じたいもの。
一言でぴったり言い表せる日本語はきっとなくて、私個人が思うにその構成成分は、
[夢＋野望＋憧れ]
みたいなもので出来ていて、「解き放つのが上手くいくコツだよ」って言うくらいだから、
みんなが心の中に抱えているもの。
アレサはそれを、むき出しにして叫ばせろ、掴みに行け、時間はかかっても諦めるな、と歌っていて、
自分の人生をもってそれに説得力を持たせているなんて、すごくカッコいい。
