2021年のクリスマスシーズンは、この曲が最強ではないでしょうか…！



レコード会社を移籍したばかりのJohn Legendから、ほっこり温かい愛情を感じるクリスマスソングが届きました。




タイトルは、You Deserve It All。



deserve という言葉は日本語にそのまま置き換えづらいですが、


you deserve it ＝「あなたはそれにふさわしい」

というニュアンスで使用されます。


おしりにall が付くことで、「その全てに値する価値がある」といった意味です。

さて、この歌詞を見てイメージされるのは、クリスマスツリーの下にたくさん並んだプレゼント。

日本のクリスマスの祝い方はやや独特に進化していますが、本来アメリカでは大きなツリーの下にクリスマス前からプレゼントを用意し、クリスマス当時に開封するのが一般的。


日本ではメインの贈り物ひとつ、ということが多いですが、アメリカでは一人の子どもに親が与えるプレゼントの数は3－5個が平均だそうです。
