Boyz II menの2000年のアルバム「Nathan Micheal Shawn Wanya」より、
美コーラスの珠玉のウエディングソング「I DO」です。




そんなにメジャーな曲ではないと思うんですが、個人的には大好きな一曲。

曲の歌いだしはアカペラになっており、これぞBoyz Ⅱ Menな美しいハーモニー。




曲調はウェディングソングによくある「ハッピー感溢れる雰囲気」というより、やや落ち着いたテンション低めなトーンですが、

それはこの曲が「自問自答ソング」だから。

結婚式の誓いの言葉は通常、


👨‍🦳「あなたは○○を妻とし、～～～、～することを誓いますか？」
　（Do you take this Bride to be your wife, ~~~~~?）

🧑「誓います（I do）」

と、第三者から新郎に問いかけられます。

だけど、この曲で使われている主語は「Do I～～？」

私は私に誓えるのか?と、自分で自分に問いかけていて、

そして「誓うよ」と、己に誓っています。

その覚悟が、ウェディングソングなのに浮ついていない雰囲気を造っているんでしょう。
