そこで、英語の歌詞解説サイトGenius の力を借りて翻訳をしたのですが、英ー英でも訳に関する情報が非常に多い。
ということは、
この歌詞は抽象的かつ哲学的で、おそらく英語ネイティヴの人でもスッと理解できるわけではない内容なんだと思われます。
真意を理解するには宗教的な知識が必要で、Geniusの情報から拾うだけでも、キリスト教の聖書、イスラム教、そして特に”five percent nation” (黒人男性が神、黒人女性が地球と考える宗教。
これらの信仰に関する知識を持って解釈しなければいけないようです。
最後にgeniusに載っていた、1997年のライブのMCでErykah badu本人が言っていたことの翻訳を。
